This classic traditional carpenter's or joiner's hand tool made from hardwood.
With dual purpose this mortice gauge is for laying out of mortices using two spurs, one on the adjustable brass slide and parallel marking using the single spur on the reverse of the stem.
Traditional square (slight rounding on two opposite sides) pattern for head & stem
Brass plated wear strips inset into face
Simple but effective, do away with pencils and rulers.
Knurled brass screw for adjustment.
Small enough to fit in your carpenters belt or toolbox.
